WELLA-UNICEF MAKING WAVES is offering life skills education and complete hairdressing training to the most disadvantaged young people in Brazil. Together, we will work with UNICEF and its specialized partners in Brazil, to:

• Deliver professional hairdressing classes in fully equipped centers
• Enable hairdressers from supporting countries to share their passion and knowledge with disadvantaged young people in the field for 2 weeks
• Provide these young people with life skills education to build their self-esteem, raise their aspirations and realize their potential
• Help them to find opportunities to build hairdressing careers in their country and increase their skills through Wella Professionals' solid network and education program.

After the first phase in Brazil and Germany, WELLA-UNICEF MAKING WAVES will be rolled out to other countries across the world. Wella’s vision is to make the program truly global, and reach as many young people as possible.

WELLA-UNICEF MAKING WAVES will address the wide-ranging educational needs of most vulnerable young people in Brazil.
In this country, most adolescents attend school for just half a day a week. Approximately 8 million young people have very low levels of education and only 60% of students who start primary education finish it.

WELLA-UNICEF MAKING WAVES in Brazil supports the UNICEF program that aims to equip 15 centres with the ability to train 7,500 adolescents from 1,830 municipalities in three years.
This initiative is focused on the three poorest areas in Brazil with the most critical social indicators: the Semi-arid, the Amazon, and low-income communities in large urban centres.
